Dear Parents/Carers,
Term 4 has kicked off with an amazing night of celebrations and dancing to celebrate our 140th year of operation. It was a perfect way to start what is an incredibly busy – yet rewarding term. In just eight short weeks we will say goodbye to our Year 6 students, meet our new kindy’s for 2023 and enjoy our colour run, Christmas Concert and formal 140th Assembly.
140th Mucky Duck Bush Dance
It was great to see so many families from our community enjoying a fantastic night of dancing and celebration. All the dance lessons that Mrs Easton taught us got put to good use and the performers did an amazing job of keeping everybody moving. The sausage sizzle was a great success and it looked like everyone enjoyed a nice picnic in the balmy spring weather. I want to thank the 140th committee for their organisation, the church for offering parking, the volunteers on the bbq and Matt Keogh for his donations to the night.
Massed Choir Festival
The choir students did our school proud with an amazing performance at the Perth Concert Hall on the last night of Term 3. The concert was attended by a number of schools from across Perth, dignitaries and parents /community members. Thank you to Mr Campbell and Ms Ferguson for all the work you did preparing for this event.
140th Assembly
Our formal assembly for the 140th year celebration will be on 16 November at 10:30 on the quadrangle. Many ex staff, students and special guests will be in attendance. I look forward to welcoming our current community to what is an important milestone. These events have only be made possible through the tireless efforts of our 140th committee who have volunteered countless hours to ensure we celebrate our history in the best way possible.
Church/Cemetery Visit
140 years ago when Kelmscott Primary School begun operating it did so out of the church next door. An ex-parent and volunteer Mrs Meredyth Van Der Klip is the wife of the current Minister Ben and has kindly offered to take our current students over to the church and cemetery to learn about its history. I want to thank Mrs Van Der Klip for this very special and unique opportunity.
