It was a very special day with our annual Pirate Day dress up to raise money for children who are suffering with cancer. There was a tremendous display of wonderful costumes that were worn by students and staff. It was also P&C Day, which is an opportunity for us to celebrate the terrific work of our amazing P&C. Our P&C runs our canteen four days a week which is a significant effort for a school our size. They also operate our uniform shop and fundraise much needed money that assists us in resourcing our school. Last year we had our two audio/visual screens installed in The Hall which was funded by P&C in full. If you are interested in joining, please come to the office and we will point you in the right direction.
New Playgroup at KPS
Last week we began operating our new playgroup service in the OSH building. This new initiative aims to bring our youngest community members into our school to make some new friends and enjoy playing together. It is also an opportunity for parents/carers to meet some new families in a casual and friendly environment. Children aged 0-5 are welcome to attend.
MAGIC Breakfast
I was absolutely blown away with the turnout at last Friday’s MAGIC breakfast. It was a wonderful opportunity to show appreciation for all our wonderful mothers, aunts, grandmothers and important carers with a special breakfast. Whilst I smelled like a sausage for the rest of the day, it was a small price to pay to see the joy and excitement on everyone’s faces. I would like to thank all the staff for coming in early and volunteering and Kelmscott Coles and Woolworths for donating the food to allow us to host this event.
Public Speaking Competition
We have three Year 5/6 students competing in the Public Speaking Competition at Willandra Primary School on Wednesday 31 May. These students will deliver a speech on why they love living in Kelmscott. I know they are busy rehearsing and will do our school proud.
Summerslam Interschool Basketball
Mr Grace has been busy training up three teams to compete in the Summerslam Interschool Basketball Tournament next Tuesday in Kalamunda. These teams have shown dedication to their training and have been working hard to improve. I know they will give their absolute all next week and have a wonderful time playing a game they all love.
KPS Book Fair
Mrs Morton is busy getting the library prepared for the Book Fair which will begin next Tuesday and run through to the following Wednesday. There is always a huge variety of books and stationery aimed at children of all ages. This will be run out of the KPS Library before and after school.
