Good Afternoon Parents/Caregivers,
We are a very busy school at the moment with our Year 3 and 5 students sitting NAPLAN tests this week, classroom renovations in full swing and teachers preparing for Semester 1 reports.
NAPLAN
Year 3 and 5 students will each sit five tests over Weeks 4 and 5 covering reading, writing, grammar & punctuation, spelling and numeracy. The data from these tests assists us in our whole school planning and our target setting. It is our mission to make these tests as seamless as possible, however, some children will feel a degree of anxiety and stress. This is completely normal, we here at KPS are just encouraging them to do their best.
Uniforms
The uniform shop has new jackets that will (hopefully) be available by the end of May. These new jackets look fantastic with our upgraded logo and will keep our students warm during the cold winter months. In the meantime, can you please ensure your children either wear a school jumper or a plain blue jacket?

Term 2 Classroom Renovations
The final renovations are underway in Rooms 4, 11, 15, 16 and 17. The refurbishment is on track to finish ahead of schedule next Thursday. We are very excited to offer our students highly engaging classroom environments that are innovative and modern.
Quad Refurbishment
These works will commence in the next few weeks and will cause disruption to the classrooms surrounding the quad. Once completed, it will be an amazing place for our students to enjoy basketball, netball and tennis on brand new courts. We are really looking forward to all the works being completed by the end of Term 2.
Staffing Update
We are very pleased to announce that our wonderful cleaner Mr Jason Wagner has won the advertised permanent cleaner position here at KPS. Mr Wagner does an amazing job keeping our school clean and we are so happy our cleaning team is complete. Please join me in congratulating him.

ANZAC Service
We held a solemn ANZAC Service on Friday 23 April that was well attended by our community and special dignitaries. Ms Stephanie Long did an amazing job of organising the special event and her Year 3 students were absolutely sensational hosts. The student leaders and ICT Leaders were also instrumental in ensuring that it ran smoothly. I would like to thank our Board Chair Wally Turner, P&C President Jeff Williams and my 91 year old Grandfather Theo Bushe-Jones for attending our ceremony.

Kiss and Drive
Please don’t park in the ‘kiss and drive’ area. If you’d like to take your child to class please make sure you park across the road. This area is extremely busy at pick up and drop off so your patience is much appreciated.
School Board
We are seeking nominations for parents and community members who might be interested in joining our School Board. Being a member of the Board is a great way to gain insight into the operations and decision making that occur within our school. If you are interested please email me on Jason.bushe-jones@education.wa.edu.au
Kind Regards,
Jason Bushe-Jones
