Principal’s Update #2 Term 3

Principal’s Update #1 Term 3

Dear Parents/Carers,

It’s been a very busy few weeks at KPS with so many great things happening around the school. We had our Year 6 camp, energize dancing and our WA Police cyber safety sessions all happening in the last week. Term 3 will be very exciting with swimming lessons, massed choir and our 140th picnic/pioneer day all happening in the coming weeks.

Mr Hart

Our very popular and well respected deputy principal Mr Hart will finish at KPS this Thursday. He is off to the tropical paradise that is Cocos Keeling Islands for a three year contract. We will miss Mr Hart and all he has done for our students, staff and community. I want to personally thank him for being a loyal, dedicated and hardworking deputy who has made my role so much easier and fun! We will announce our new deputy as soon as we finalise the process.

Year 6 Camp

The wild weather wasn’t enough to stop the Year 6 students from enjoying an amazing week at Woodman Point. Our lucky students enjoyed rock climbing, zip lining, team building and late evening games with their amazing teachers. I was lucky to spend a night there and can certainly vouch that they were extremely well fed by the fantastic catering company.

Book Week

At KPS we celebrate the magic of reading every day in our classrooms. However, we will officially be marking book week from 22-26 of August (week 6). We have an amazing week for all fun activities culminating in our book week dress up parade on Thursday 25 August from 8:50am.

140th Pioneer Day Family Picnic

On Tuesday 30 August we will be holding a very special event in our series of 140th year celebrations. We welcome all families to bring a picnic blanket and enjoy a lunch with your children from 1:00pm. We are encouraging all students (and staff) to dress like a pioneer to get into the spirit. On the day we will have ‘old time’ games and activities.

School Board

The School Board are our governing body and do a fantastic job of working alongside us with our school improvement agenda. The Board is made up of school staff, parents/carers and community members who all have a common purpose in wanting the best environment for our students. Our next meeting will be tomorrow afternoon from 4pm-6pm in the library. This meeting will be open to the public, we encourage you to come along and get a firsthand look at how we operate. You may even decide to nominate for a position on the Board.

Winter Uniforms

Can you please ensure that your children wear school jackets and jumpers? Our new designs look fantastic and promote the school in a positive light. If you don’t have a school jacket or jumper please send your child in a plain blue one without name brands etc.

OHSC

Our out of hours school care provider has started operating onsite at KPS. It is a great opportunity for your children to have a structured day care experience without having to leave the school grounds. Please contact them directly for more information on 9473 8402 or 9473 8407.
