Principal’s Update #3 Term 1

Dear Parents/Caregivers,
It’s hard to believe we are four weeks down already! Students have settled really well into their new routines and structures. I had the privilege of observing all classes doing their Prime Mathematics this week and was really impressed with how well the program was running. Effective whole school approaches are essential for our students having a consistent learning program from year to year.

As you may be aware, KPS is a proud ‘Positive Behaviour Support’ (PBS) school. As such, we have assemblies every three weeks with a new focus behaviour. The topc for this three week period is ‘we come prepared’. This applies to all aspects of our students schooling including, coming to school ready to learn, being on time, making sure your lunch is packed and having the correct the right resources for a lesson.

I would like to welcome Ms Angela Hutchison to our staff. Ms Hutchison will be teaching health every Friday for the rest of this term. We are very excited to have her join our team.

Next week students in Year 3&5 will be sitting their practice tests for NAPLAN in Week 7. This test will be primarily to test the online infrastructure rather than their ability levels. If you would like any further information in regards to NALPAN please contact the office.

KPS School Board
The KPS School Board is our governing body that is made up of parents, staff and community members. The Board meets 1-2 times a term to discuss various aspects of the school including academic data, school approaches and our Business Plan. The Board Chair is Mr Daniel Attewell who often liaises with the parents on the Board. We will have some vacancies that arise this year that you may be interested in. If you would like any further information please email me at

Our new Chaplain Ms Cassandra Lazic has started this week. If you see her around please make her feel welcome. Ms Desire Atkinson has now left us for her maternity leave. We wish her all the very best in this exciting chapter in her life.

Our out of hours school care provider has started operating onsite at KPS. It is a great opportunity for your children to have a structured day care experience without having to leave the school grounds. Please contact them directly with them for more information on 9473 8402 or 9473 8407.
