Principal’s Update #3 Term 4

Good Afternoon Parents/Caregivers,

As we roll into Week 8 our teachers are busy finalising their reports for Semester 2. The school is an extremely busy place at this time of year with our Year 6 students participating in orientation at Kelmscott Senior High School and getting ready for the graduation ceremony.

Ms Aleesha Meuleners – Deputy Principal

I am pleased to announce that Ms Meuleners has won the permanent Deputy Principal position at Kelmscott Primary School. Ms M has been a valuable asset to our school and will continue to serve our community into the future. She is a strong leader who cares deeply for our students, staff and community. I’m sure that you will all agree that this great news for our school.

Kindy Expo

What a great morning it was last Friday at our Kindy Expo. It was so great to get to meet our new (and old) families who enjoyed visiting the stalls and engaging with each other. A big thank you to all the organisers and presenters.

Playground Opening Ceremony

It was such a fantastic morning today with our grand opening of the new playground. We really enjoyed having former Principal Sheri Evans, P&C President Jeff William and Board Chair Wally Turner as special guests. The new playground is such an exciting new feature of our school that will be enjoyed by generations of Kelmscott students.

Christmas Concert

I’m really looking forward to attending my first Christmas Concert at Kelmscott Primary School on Tuesday 8 December from 6pm. I know the students have been working very hard on their act and can’t wait to perform it in front of you. We will send out information next week on how we will manage this event in line with the current COVID-19 restrictions.

Robotics Tournament

On Saturday 5 December, KPS will be competing in the 1st Lego League Robotics competition at Armadale Senior High School. It will be a great opportunity for our students to test their coding skills against other schools across the network.

Interschool Athletics

Our school competed gallantly at last week’s Interschool carnival and displayed excellent sportsmanship and athleticism. I really enjoyed seeing our students proudly representing our school with such enthusiasm. A special thanks to Mr Donahue who spent many mornings training the students and getting them prepared.

MASS Choir

Our Choir students did an amazing job of representing Kelmscott Primary School at the ‘Mass Choir’ event at the Perth Concert Hall. From all accounts the students were very well behaved and relished the opportunity to perform amongst the other schools.

Assembly Week 9

We have an assembly on Thursday Week 9 at 9am. Room 15 will perform live at the event. I invite parents/caregivers (up to 2) of the performing children to come and attend the assembly. I also invite the parents/caregivers (up to 2) of the merit certificate winners to the assembly to see their child receive their award (you will be notified if this applies to you). Please remember we are still in Phase 4 restrictions, so the 1.5m rule will apply at any event we conduct at the school this term. Your understanding and compliance with this is greatly appreciated.

Yours sincerely,

Jason Bushe-Jones
