Principal’s Update #4 Term 1

Good Afternoon Parents/Carers,

I want to thank you for your support as we navigate through the current COVID situation. As a school we have been fortunate so far that we haven’t had any mass interruptions to our operations. Again, I applaud our students who have been resilient and settled into their routines admirably.

Physical Quotient
At Kelmscott Primary School we are committed to a holistic approach of collecting data on all aspects of student life. The physical quotient testing is conducted by ‘Sports Challenge Australia’ for all students from PP-Year 6. The testing provides an overall fitness rating for all students based on a 12 minute run, throw, sit-ups, long jump, squat jump, sit and reach and chin-ups. The data is measured against the results of thousands of Australian students using the same testing. This week, all students from PP-Year 6 were involved in this testing. We will release the report to families in Term 2.

Student Well-Being Testing
Student well-being and overall happiness is paramount to their overall success both at home and school. This week we are conducting surveys from PP-Yr 6 that will measure student self-worth, student self and others, student self and school and student self and home means. This allows us to plan our mental health and well-being programs to suit the needs of our school.

140th Celebration Picnic
Did you know that 2022 is Kelmscott Primary School’s 140th year? We are the second oldest continuous school in the Perth Metropolitan Area. To celebrate this unique milestone we have a number of exciting community events that we will hold throughout the year. The first one was a celebration picnic that was to be held last Friday. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 we had to postpone, please be aware that we will reschedule this event so it can be held safely next term.

OHSC
Our out of hours school care provider has started operating onsite at KPS. It is a great opportunity for your children to have a structured day care experience without having to leave the school grounds. Please contact them directly with them for more information on 9473 8402 or 9473 8407.
