It’s hard to believe that we are nearing the end of Term 1 already. It has been a busy and productive start to the year at KPS with our students settling in beautifully. Our new Prime Maths program seems to be operating successfully with teachers and students both providing positive feedback on its implementation. Term 1 finishes on Thursday 6 April and students return on Wednesday 26 April.
We are coming to the end of the NAPLAN testing period over the next few days. All Year 3 and 5 students have done an amazing job sitting these four tests. They have all tried really hard and been on their very best behaviour during the tests. A massive thank you to Mrs Aim who has coordinated NAPLAN this year and done an amazing job.
I am currently finalising an agreement with Down South Therapy Services and Curtin University to have two full time student Occupational Therapists located on site at KPS. This will complement the current service that we already offer with our Speech Therapists. The ‘Media Room’ will now become the KPS Development Services Building from next term. This is an exciting new initiative to offer our families a convenient alternative to accessing allied health services.
On Thursday 4 May, we will be holding one of our major community events. This night will include classroom stalls, P&C fundraisers and a disco. We will be advertising this over the next five weeks.
This term we have an exciting PBS reward that will include a water obstacle course with mud. If you are interested in volunteering to help set up, please let me know ASAP.
Easter Hat Parade
Our hat parade will be back in full swing (restriction free) for the first time in three years. We look forward to inviting parents/families to come along and enjoy what is always a great morning.
Our new Chaplain Ms Cassandra Lasic has started. If you see her around, please make her feel welcome. Ms Desire Atkinson has now left us for her maternity leave. We wish her all the very best in this exciting chapter in her life.
Our out of hours school care provider has started operating onsite at KPS. It is a great opportunity for your children to have a structured day care experience without having to leave the school grounds. Please contact them directly with them for more information on 9473 8402 or 9473 8407.
