Principal’s Update #4 Term 1

Good Afternoon Parents/Caregivers,

We are on the home stretch on what has been a busy but exciting term at our school. Students last day this term is today, Wednesday 31 March. We hope that families can use this extra time to do something nice and hopefully enjoy an extended Easter break. Our staff will use the pupil free day on Thursday to take part in professional learning centred around our ‘back to front maths’ approach. These mandated staff development days are such a valuable asset in the continual up-skilling of our staff.

Term 2 Classroom Renovations

During Term 2, our classrooms will be getting some much-needed renovations. This will be completed in stages which will cause disruption to our school. Each stage will see four classrooms renovated at the same time. This will mean that classrooms will be relocated to specialist rooms during this time. The first four classrooms to be renovated are Rooms 1, 2, 9 and 10. Works will commence over the holidays, we will communicate where these classes will be relocated prior to Term 2 commencing.

Term Planner

Our term planner for Term 2 has been uploaded on our website calendar at: http://www.kelmscottprimaryschool.wa.edu.au/events/ . This will have all our important dates and events available to you. You can also synch events in the calendar to your smart phone as a reminder. This will replace the paper term planners that we were using previously.

Water Slide Fun Day

Students who maintained good standing were treated to a wonderful day of fun with play on Mr Hart’s water slides yesterday. This initiative is an important component of our positive behaviour support (PBS) program that seeks to reward the great behaviour of our students. Well done to all the students who earned the this fantastic reward.

Easter Hat Parade

It was great to see the effort that went into designing and creating these wonderful hats. It was a great morning parade that was really well attended by parents and community. A great way to finish off the term!

Kiss and Drop

Please don’t park in the ‘kiss and drop’ area. If you’d like to take your child to class please make sure you park across the road. This area is extremely busy at pick up and drop off so your patience is much appreciated. City of Armadale Parking Inspectors have been keeping a close eye on this area so please avoid the fine and allow traffic to flow.

School Board

We are seeking nominations for parents and community members who might be interested in joining our School Board. Being a member of the Board is a great way to gain insight into the operations and decision making that occur within our school. If you are interested please email me on Jason.bushe-jones@education.wa.edu.au
