Principal’s Update #4 Term 3

Dear Parents/Carers,

We have a busy final two weeks of Term 3 with swimming lessons in full swing and the Massed Choir to look forward to, I know we are all going to need a well-earned spring break.

School Leadership Team
I am excited to announce after running a very competitive and rigorous selection process we have now finalised our new Executive Team.

Starting Term 4

Principal
Mr Jason Bushe-Jones (Permanent Full Time)

Deputy Principals
Mrs Jade Aim (Permanent Monday to Wednesday and every second Friday, due to maternity leave)
Mrs Samantha Higgins (Fixed Term 12 Months, Full Time)
Mr Jack Powers (Fixed Term, Thursday-Friday)

Manager Corporate Services
Mrs Sharon Saville (Permanent Full Time)

I want to thank Ms Sarah Thomason who has been in the Deputy Principal role over the last 12 months replacing Ms M who has been on maternity leave. Ms Thomason has provided solid leadership, sound curriculum knowledge and has been instrumental in our continuous improvement journey. She will leave us at the end of term to join Yarralinka Primary School as a permanent Deputy Principal. I know you will join me in thanking Ms Thomason for her time at KPS and wish her all the very best for the future.

Athletics Carnival
Last Friday the weather gods smiled upon us to provide perfect conditions for what was a fantastic athletics carnival. I want to acknowledge the fantastic sportsmanship and determination that was demonstrated by our students. Thank you to Mr Donohue for his organisation and running of the event. I also would like to thank the P&C and canteen who did a great job with the raffles and lunches.

140th Pioneer Day Family Picnic
We held a wonderful afternoon of ‘old time’ games and enjoyed the company of our community and families for a picnic. It was so pleasing to see how many people attended and got into the spirit of dressing like a pioneer. The 140th celebrations continue next term with our bush dance and formal assembly.

PBS Focus
Our current PBS focus is ‘We are responsible for our personal space’. These core values are explicitly taught in the classroom to complement our positive approach to student behaviour. All students who have maintained their ‘Good Standing’ will be invited to a very special silent disco as a reward for good behaviour.

Winter Uniforms
Can you please ensure that your children wear school jackets and jumpers? Our new designs look fantastic and promote the school in a positive light. If you don’t have a school jacket or jumper please send your child in a plain blue one without name brands etc.

OHSC
Our out of hours school care provider continues to operate successfully onsite at KPS. It is a great opportunity for your children to have a structured day care experience without having to leave the school grounds. Please contact them directly for more information on 9473 8402 or 9473 8407.
