Dear Parents/Carers,
We are now well and truly at the business end of the term with just two weeks to go. We are looking to finish off in style with a number of great events coupled with the same educational rigour in the classrooms. This Wednesday, I will be taking long service leave to travel overseas with my family. In my absence Mrs Aim will be principal and Mr Donohue with join Mrs Higgins in the deputy principal role. I will return to KPS on Monday 9 October.
Athletics Carnival
We were blessed with perfect weather conditions for what was an amazing day of sporting fun. I want to commend every student for their exemplary behaviour and efforts in participating in their events. There was a high level of competitiveness coupled with great sportsmanship that was terrific to see. I want to thank Mr Donohue for his organisation and running of the day. I also want to thank the volunteers from the P&C and Mrs Sisson from the canteen for the sausage sizzle, raffles and money boards. Lastly, well done to Martin for taking out the carnival for a second year in a row.
Massed Choir
This Friday is thew big night for our choir who will be performing in the Massed Choir Concert at the Perth Concert Hall. It is always a highlight for our school to be involved in such a prestigious event with our students being in the spotlight. A big thank you to Mr Vandermeer and Ms Ferguson for the organisation and preparation for this night.
Energize Concerts
Our K-PP students have been learning to dance in their weekly ‘Energize’ sessions with Mrs Janine Tjerkstra. They are going to put on a special concert next Monday and Tuesday from 2:15pm in The Hall, please see Seesaw for your child’s time and day.
PBS Reward
Every term Mrs Aim organises a wonderful reward for every student that has maintained their Good Standing. Next Wednesday, we will be having a movie and popcorn day in The Hall, which will be our makeshift cinema for the day.
Free Dress Day
The last Friday of Term 3 will be a free dress day for a gold coin donation. This is the exciting time of year when footy finals are upon us. Hopefully KPS will be a sea of black in white in support of the mighty Collingwood Football Club before their preliminary final that night. Go Pies!
Attendance
The cold/flu/COVID season has definitely affected student attendance this term. However, there is a concerning trend of students that seem to be missing a lot of school time for birthdays, holidays and just general days off. Every school day is important, so unless your child is too unwell, please ensure they are at school.
New Playgroup at KPS
Our new playgroup service is now operating in the OSH building. This new initiative aims to bring our youngest community members into our school to make some new friends and enjoy playing together. It is also an opportunity for parents/carers to meet some new families in a casual and friendly environment. Children aged 0-5 are welcome to attend.
Please email Samantha.higgins3@education.wa.edu.au for more information.
OHSC
Our out of hours school care provider is operating onsite at KPS. It is a great opportunity for your children to have a structured day care experience without having to leave the school grounds. Please contact them directly with them for more information on 9473 8402 or 9473 8407.
