Principal’s Update #5 Term 2

We’ve come to the end of a long 11 week term which included many highlights including Year 6 Camp, swimming lessons, interschool sports, excursions and a very successful parent teacher evening last Thursday. Now it’s time for a well earned break for our students to recharge their batteries and prepare for Semester 2. I want to thank you all for the ongoing support and engagement that you have with our school.

Reporting Evening
Last Thursday, we held our parent/teacher reporting evening. This new initiative was designed to provide families with the opportunity to have a more personalised conversation with teachers on their child’s progress. The turnout was significant and feedback has been universally positive in terms of the format in which we conducted the evening. We will seek feedback through our school board next term to decide our format for Semester 2.

Interschool Winter Carnival
We are so proud of all the KPS students that represented our school and demonstrated exemplary behaviour, attitude and teamwork. I want to thank all the staff that assisted in coaching these teams. Many of these teachers gave up their lunchtimes to provide their team with extra training. The new uniforms that were generously donated by the P&C looked absolutely sensational. These uniforms were the last KPS ones to be rebranded.

PBS Reward
Our PBS reward this term was a Magic Show! All students that maintained their good standing were invited. Our PBS values of respect, responsibility, safety and pride are always important but particularly in the last few weeks of term when we become a bit tired and irritated.

Pre Kindy Now Open
Our new Pre-Kindy service is now operating with a great turnout of families joining us for some fun and the opportunity to get to know some new friends. We are excited to offer this exciting opportunity for our community. It is our aim to provide our next generation of students with a taste of school life. Please email for more information.

KPS School Board
The KPS School Board is our governing body that is made up of parents, staff and community members. The Board meets 1-2 times a term to discuss various aspects of the school including academic data, school approaches and our Business Plan. The Board Chair is Mr Daniel Attewell who often liaises with the parents on the Board. We will have some vacancies that arise this year that you may be interested in. If you would like any further information please email me at

Playgroup at KPS
Our playgroup service is operating in the OSH building. This initiative aims to bring our youngest community members into our school to make some new friends and enjoy playing together. It is also an opportunity for parents/carers to meet some new families in a casual and friendly environment. Children aged 0-5 are welcome to attend. Please email for more information.

OHSC – Their Care
Our out of hours school care provider is operating onsite at KPS. It is a great opportunity for your children to have a structured day care experience without having to leave the school grounds. Please contact them directly with them for more information on1300 072 410 or
