Student Services

Kelmsott Primary School is proud to offer a range of Allied Health services through our partnerships with Fremantle Speech Pathology Services, Down South Therapy, Curtin University and Southern Cross University.

Speech Therapy

We are pleased to offer speech therapy services through our ongoing agreement with Fremantle Speech Pathology Servies and Curtin University. This allows us to screen all of our kindergarten students and ensure that early intevention processes can commence straight away. Speech therapists work with students that require interventions throughout the school.

Occupational Therapy

We have a partenership with Down South Therapy Services and Curtin University to offer the services of final year occupational therapists to students for a range of intervention strategies including 1-1 and small groups. Students are referred through their teachers and are provided with additional support through this service.

Social Workers

We offer pre-service social workers field placements at Kelmscott Primary School. This new initiative is through a partnership with Southern Cross University. Social workers will be tasked with supporting students and their families through a range of services that includes mentoring, resilience building, accessing outside agencies and and working on 'life skills'.

Chaplaincy

Our Chaplain works at KPS two days a week and supports students who are experiencing difficulties with friendships, home issues and self esteem. Our Chaplain runs our breakfast club every Wednesday morning and is a friendly face that many of our students access on a regular basis.

School Psychology Services

Our School Psychologist is employed through the Department of Education and attends Kelmscott Primary School three times a fortnight. Her role is to liaise with our Deputy Principal and teachers to organise meetings, assist families going through a diagnosis process and to observe and write reports on students presenting with pre-existing or imputed disabilities.
